Dr. Chan received his medical degree and Bachelor of Medical Science degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He subsequently completed his residency training in General Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was awarded the G B Ong Medal for his fellowship examination in 2011. He then completed subspecialty training in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, NY, USA, and Northern Yokohama Hospital, as well as Fujita Health University Hospital, Japan. He later completed his training in Bariatric and Metabolic surgery in Taipei Medical University, Taiwan.
Dr. Chan’s clinical interests include the surgical treatment of functional upper GI diseases, and surgery for metabolic diseases, as well as surgical treatment for esophageal and gastric cancers. He specializes in minimally invasive & robotic UGI surgery and advanced therapeutic endoscopy; and he has published in areas of Trauma, Hernia, and Upper Endoscopy.
