Travel clinic
Don’t travel abroad without ensuring that you have had the right vaccinations. We provide a travel clinic service, customised to your individual needs. Ideally, you should make initial enquiries at least 1 month before you travel, as you may need a course of two or three injections for certain areas in the world. But even if you have left it until the last minute, we can help give you some protection before you go. A full history will be taken and vaccination records reviewed. Specific travel advice will be given on the destination country or countries, as well as more general advice on travelling abroad. Appropriate anti-malarial advice and relevant prescriptions (malaria tablets) will also be offered where necessary.
After Your Return:
Just because you have made it home doesn’t mean you're out of the woods! Especially if you are not feeling too well. Some of the commonest problems in returning travellers include diarrhoea, insect bites, fever and skin rashes. By far the most concerning symptom in any traveller is a fever. So, if you have a fever, or in fact any other unwanted problems on your return, you should be seen. After taking a complete history and examination your doctor can decide on what further investigations, such as blood tests, need to be done to exclude any infectious disease you may have picked up.
Examples of vaccines available at The London (subject to availability)
• Typhoid
• Tetanus & Polio
• Shingles & Chickenpox
• Japanese Encephalitis
• Rabies
• Meningitis ABCWY
• Hepatitis A & B
• Malaria prophylaxsis
