Winston qualified from the School of Pharmacy University of London in 1991. Over the years he has worked in both London  hospitals and community pharmacies as pharmacists in-charge and manager of a professional pharmacy. He also gained an MBA from University of Warwick in 2000 and has also worked for many years as a pharmacist in Vancouver, Canada.
